1. Samsung G5 Odyssey Gaming Monitor with 1000R Curved Screen
Samsung Odyssey G5 is a good low budget game monitor. Like its brother, the Samsung Odyssey G7, it has a resolution of 1440p and is available in two sizes, one 27-inch, and one 32-inch. It has a high contrast ratio that produces deep black, but it is not bright enough to overcome intense glare, making it ideal for dark or bright rooms. With fast response times, high refresh rates, and low input lag, it provides a smooth and responsive gaming experience.
In addition, it supports free sync and is compatible with G-SYNC. Unfortunately, its viewing angle is lower than normal and its ergonomics are poor. Therefore, it is not the best choice for collaborative games and content sharing. Also, even if HDR is supported, the peak brightness is low and it is not possible to display a wide range of colors.
Design:
Seen from the front, the Samsung Odyssey G5 resembles its older brother, the Samsung Odyssey G7, with thin borders and wide V-shaped support on three sides. But the rear looks very cheap because of its small base support, so it’s very different. It also does not include the RGB lighting present in the G7.

Performance & Features:
The Samsung Odyssey G5 has an unusually low input lag, but when played at 60 Hz it is significantly higher. We measured the input lag in 10-bit HDR at 60 Hz because it is the highest refresh rate possible with an HDMI connection when transmitting a 10-bit signal and we cannot measure the input lag in HDR with a DisplayPort connection. For DisplayPort, the maximum 10-bit refresh rate is 144 Hz.
The Samsung Odyssey G5 has excellent resolution and is available in two sizes, 27 and 32 inches. The 32-inch model can provide a more immersive gaming experience, but with a slightly lower pixel density, especially if you plan to use the screen for work or want to sit close.
During testing, I noticed that the monitor’s OSD did not reflect the active refresh rate, only the maximum refresh rate. This means that even if you set the refresh rate to 60 Hz in the graphics card control panel, the on-screen menu will display 144 Hz.
Samsung Odyssey G5 has a good contrast ratio. It’s slightly higher than if you advertised a 2500: 1 ratio, but the contrast may vary from camera to camera.
The Samsung G5 Odyssey has a decent state-of-the-art SDR brightness. Brightness is very uniform for different content, except for the 2% window created by darkening the image. However, it is not bright enough to overcome intense glare and is suitable for dark or medium-light rooms.
The brightness of peak HDR is disappointing. Brightness is not enough to bring out the high lighting of HDR content, and like SDR, 2% of windows are low. Samsung’s website has an icon indicating VESA HDR600 certification, but this may be a mistake as the brightness approaches 600 CD / m2.
The Samsung Odyssey G5 has satisfactory accuracy, but it may vary from device to device. There are visible inaccuracies in some colors and shades of gray. Most scenes appear darker than expected because gamma does not follow the sRGB curve at all. The color temperature is a little colder than the 6500K target, giving it a slightly bluish tint.
The accuracy after calibration is exceptional. The white balance is almost perfect and the color temperature is almost on target. There are still some color inaccuracies, but they are very difficult to find. Gamma is much better. However, very dark and very bright scenes are overly thin.

The AOC CQ27G1 is a 27-inch, 1440p curved screen. It's a great choice for the game thanks to its incredibly low entry time and fast response time that allows for clear movements. The VA panel has a very good contrast ratio that converts to deep black, but this is mediocre and is done at the expense of the viewing angle, which reduces the accuracy of the image from the side.
The lack of HDR support may disappoint some people, but it has impressive color accuracy and displays a very wide range of SDR colors. Fighting glare in most rooms isn't very bright, but it's highly reflective and can be played in medium-heat rooms.
Design:
The AOC CQ27G1 has a black finish and a slightly red player-friendly look on the front, back, and pits. It also has thin glasses on three sides.
Ergonomics is good. Although the AOC CQ27G1 has a wide swivel range, it has a limited tilt range and, like most curved monitors, cannot be placed in longitudinal mode.

Amazing refresh rate. It supports FreeSynch's variable refresh rate technology to reduce game tears, but unfortunately, it's not compatible with G-SYNC. The maximum refresh rate of 144 Hz cannot be overclocked and the RRV range can drop to 20 Hz.
The AOC CQ27G1 has a very low entry delay. It's slower when variable refresh rates are enabled, but it always reacts quickly to actions. It will also be slow if the refresh frequency is 60Hz (normal) and the input lag is still very low.
As with most VA panel monitors, the AOC CQ27G1 has a very good contrast ratio. Blacks appear as if they were seen in the dark.
Unfortunately, there is no local gradient feature that deepens blacks.
Poor vertical viewing angle. If you are sitting near the monitor, the edges of the screen will be dark.
